PWA — Offline Apps for Signal-Free Industrial Zones

Progressive web apps that work without internet. Capture data in signal-free zones and sync automatically when connection returns.

Apps that work where there is no WiFi or data signal

Industrial plants, warehouses and loading areas have something in common: areas where wireless signal is inconsistent or nonexistent. Building an app that depends on a permanent connection to save a quality record or a production reading generates frustration for the operator and gaps in the data history. A Progressive Web App solves this problem by locally storing what the user needs and automatically syncing when the connection returns.

We develop PWAs for industrial and field operations that need to function without internet. The app installs directly from the browser on tablets, phones or computers without going through the App Store or Google Play. A single version works on iOS, Android and Windows, which reduces maintenance costs and eliminates version fragmentation among plant floor devices.

For companies in Reynosa and Tamaulipas, the most common PWAs include quality capture apps in warehouse dead zones, preventive maintenance forms for outdoor equipment, and field service applications for technicians working at client sites without internet access. In each case, offline-captured data syncs transparently to the ERP or central database as soon as the device recovers signal, without user intervention.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a PWA and a native app?

A native app is downloaded from the App Store or Google Play and requires separate development for iOS and Android. A PWA is a web app with native-level capabilities: it installs directly from the browser, works offline, sends push notifications and can access the camera and device storage. For internal business applications — forms, checklists, operational dashboards — a PWA offers the same functionality as a native app at a fraction of the development and maintenance cost.

How does offline/online synchronization work exactly?

When the user captures data without an internet connection, the app stores the information locally using the browser's IndexedDB database. A service worker runs in the background monitoring connectivity. When signal is detected, it automatically initiates synchronization: it sends all pending records to the server, confirms receipt and marks them as synchronized. If there's a conflict — for example, the same record was modified in two places — a configurable conflict resolution rule is applied, prioritizing the server version or the most recent capture according to the business logic defined.

Does a developer need to update the PWA?

No. When the server version is updated, the service worker automatically detects the change and downloads the new version in the background. The next time the user opens the app — or after a configurable interval — they receive the update without any manual action. This eliminates the dependency on app store approvals and ensures all users are always on the same version, which is especially valuable in environments with many devices distributed across multiple shifts.

Does the PWA work on old industrial tablets?

Generally yes, as long as the device has a browser updated within the last 3 to 4 years. Chrome on Android and Safari on iOS both support the service workers and local storage necessary for offline operation. For very old tablets with outdated Android versions, we run a compatibility test before committing. In some cases a minimal optimization of the interface or a cache configuration adjustment is enough to make it work correctly on older hardware.

How long does PWA development take?

A functional PWA with basic offline forms and real-time reports is ready in 3 to 6 weeks. More complex projects — multiple modules, ERP integration, role-based access control, advanced synchronization logic — typically take 2 to 4 months. We work in short iterations with functional deliverables every 2 weeks so the client can see and validate progress continuously, without waiting until the end to see the product.

Does your plant have signal-dead zones where you still need to capture data?

We develop the PWA your plant team needs to work independently of the network.
